The NAPA AUTO PARTS No. 49 traveled to Wilmot Raceway for a one day show on Saturday. Sweet has never won at Wilmot Raceway, so the Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) team were looking for their first.
Sweet went out late in the qualifying order, 24th out of 26 cars in attendance, and ended up setting his fifth Slick Woody’s QuickTime award with a lap of 12.791. The Grass Valley, California, native started on the pole of the first Drydene heat race, where he led all 10 laps to win it and transfer into the Fast Pass Dash.
The Fast Pass Dash was eight laps in distance and Sweet went from third to second. The NAPA AUTO PARTS, KKR No. 49 rolled out second in the 40-lap Badger 40 main event. Sweet took the lead on lap 23 from Schuhart and never looked back. The No. 49 won their third straight win in Wisconsin, their 13th win of the 2021 season, and their first career win at Wilmot Raceway.
“I felt Schuhart and I were pretty even the whole race. We’ve been so close to a victory here and it feels really good to have won here finally and the last three races as we go into such a big week.” Sweet said.
Looking ahead, Tuesday kicks off five straight nights of racing with $380,000 on the line. Tuesday night the World of Outlaws travel to Attica Raceway Park for the Brad Doty Classic for $10,000 to win. Wednesday starts four-straight nights of racing at Eldora Speedway. Wednesday night is the $10,000 to win Joker's Wild, followed by the 38th Annual King’s Royal on Thursday with $175,000 to win. Friday is the Knight Before the King’s Royal for $10,000, followed by $175,000 on the line for the 37th Annual King’s Royal. Sweet has previously won the 30th and 36th Annual King’s Royal.
